A story that began in 1800, an artistic tradition preserved in the hands of the Mari family, an ancient knowledge carefully preserved from generation to generation. According to testimonies handed down in the workshops of Deruta and documents found, the first traces of the Mari family date back to the sixteenth century. Historical documents tell that in the eighteenth century "a certain Giuseppe Mari from Diruta" had a small furnace, right near the upper part of the city, in a village called "Il cerro". In the thirties the activity intensified, the workshop grew so much that several members of the family decided to join forces, so in 1932 three brothers together with a brother-in-law founded the company Fratelli Mari & C. Over the years, the creations made with passion thanks to the contribution of the whole family and important internationally renowned artists, allowed the company to position its brand in the world of high quality ceramics. Many customers also come from overseas and important organizations assign awards and prizes for quality and artistic creation. Over time the business has grown, going through various stages of development and corporate transformations, but the entire management has always remained in the hands of the family, who still continues to pass on ancient secrets and techniques. The Deruta artistic tradition has changed over time the number of workshops and artisans present in the area, today the remaining companies are few and struggle in daily management, having to fight with counterfeits and fake artisan workmanship. Even today the work of the F.lli Mari company continues with satisfaction and passion, so much so that it is one of the oldest and most prestigious in Deruta.
