After an initial firing at about 1000°, what is known in the jargon as a “cookie” is obtained, ready to be dipped into a bath of enamel, which can be of various colors, but predominantly white. The white glaze forms the base on which the decoration will then be made.
In the tradition of Deruta ceramics, the glaze used is non-toxic and certified for food use, guaranteeing the safety and suitability of the artifacts for contact with food and drink.
This coating not only enhances the brilliance and depth of the colors applied later, but also protects the ceramic, making it resistant and durable over time, in compliance with the quality and safety standards required for everyday use.
